Cybele

Cybele, the Norwegian goth rock band, assembled in 1994 with an opening roster made up entirely of women. After developing their songs through local rehearsals and gigs throughout Norway, the outfit drew notice from independent label Head Not Found with their first demo. That connection yielded the 1997 release Brightly Blackhearted. Mounting success soon prompted the follow-up album Songs of Soil in 1999 along with live dates alongside Paradise Lost and Zeromancer. Multiple personnel adjustments across those initial two records left the group with vocalist Hilde Wahl, guitarists Elisabeth Oesteby and Ingvild Tafjord, and bassist Ronny Sveen when they delivered Interactive Playground in 2001 on Voices of Wonder Records.
