Biography
Through trap beats Atlanta rapper Da Great Ape channels his narrative-driven approach to music. Growing up in East Point on what locals call the poor side of town, he first felt drawn to a music career yet soon found himself immersed in street life, earning income that helped sustain his household. That early passion for sound never faded, prompting him to construct a home studio and resume recording tracks. After DJ MLK encountered the material, the DJ connected him with T.I., who then guided the emerging talent as a mentor. Those initial recordings led to the 2018 debut EP Ape Shit. Building on its reception, he issued his first full-length project, Last Dope Boy Left, in 2019, followed by the 2020 mixtape STR8DROP.
