Biography
The rap duo Da Outfit unites MCs Hemp da Pimp and Crack da Mack. Although Hemp originated in San Antonio and Crack arrived from South Central LA, their partnership first took shape inside Sarajevo’s jazz cabarets, where the two friends traded freestyles across the grooves of local Bosnian jazz ensembles. The project began as Da Heineken Twins, later shifted to Brews Brothers, and finally settled into its lasting identity as Da Outfit. Aware that such an improbable backstory required beats beyond ordinary commercial stock, the pair first tested tracks from outside producers before choosing self-production. Supa Tree Productions took form inside a room at Hemp’s house, allowing the duo to gather enough original beats and rhymes for proper studio work. Bosnian electronica producer Adi Lukovac and his band Ornamenti joined as co-producers and sound engineers, resulting in the 2002 release Lost Underground on Supa Tree Records. The album stands as both a sonic and cultural meeting point, capturing the outcomes possible when disparate talents intersect.
