Daemonarch

Formed as a singular, stripped-down black metal side project by the lineup of Portugal’s gothic metal titans Moonspell—whose earliest recordings had already explored that same extreme terrain—Daemonarch simultaneously served as a vehicle for frontman Fernando Ribeiro to publish his adolescent verse and pursue his deepening esoteric research. Adopting the alias Langsuyar to heighten the genre’s theatrical authenticity, Ribeiro enlisted fellow Moonspell members Ricardo Amorim on guitar, Sérgio Crestana on bass and Pedro Paixao on keyboards and samples—though notably without a drummer—to record the project’s sole release, the 1998 album Hermeticum.
