Dafydd Iwan

Emerging among the earliest figures to gain traction from the Welsh rock movement, Dafydd Iwan built a career that stood out despite his assertion, "There are no stars in Wales," which he attributes to limited crowds and scant monetary returns. His decision to perform exclusively in Welsh has nevertheless drawn widespread notice. The 1981 single "Yma O'Hyd (Still Here)" ranks as his major success and has since functioned as an anthem across his homeland. He has sustained his influence by establishing the independent studio Recordiu Sain.
