Biography
Dailey & Vincent stand out as a prize-collecting bluegrass ensemble fronted by two master players, Jamie Dailey on guitar, bass, and vocals alongside Darrin Vincent on mandolin, guitar, bass, and vocals. The pair have earned consistent notice on roots-music surveys and collected numerous honors inside the bluegrass world for their instrumental command and vocal blend ever since their first recordings appeared in 2008. Their 2009 release Brothers from Different Mothers displayed the complete spectrum of their abilities, while Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers in 2010 saluted an important inspiration; the same year also brought the a cappella gospel program Singing from the Heart, and the 2022 album Let's Sing Some Country! explored full-band country territory.
Both musicians had already built substantial résumés in bluegrass before teaming up. Dailey served as guitarist and lead singer with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, whereas Vincent performed as a multi-instrumentalist in Ricky Skaggs’ Kentucky Thunder and earlier played in the family group the Sally Mountain Show alongside his sister, bluegrass luminary Rhonda Vincent. The two first crossed paths in 2001 and recognized at once that their voices combined with the uncommon fluency once heard in storied sibling acts such as the Louvin Brothers.
After repeated encounters on tour, they established Dailey & Vincent, signed with Rounder Records, and issued the self-titled Dailey & Vincent in 2008; the album instantly elevated them within the genre, securing six International Bluegrass Music Association awards that year. Rounder followed with two further projects in 2009: Brothers from Different Mothers arrived in March, and the gospel a cappella set Singing from the Heart appeared in October. Themed collections Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers and The Gospel Side of Dailey & Vincent came out in 2010 and 2012 through Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and reached stores via Rounder distribution.
The balanced and accomplished Brothers of the Highway surfaced in spring 2013, bringing the duo their second Grammy nomination and marking their last album for Rounder. Alive! In Concert appeared in 2015 under a joint arrangement with Pillar Stone Records and the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. Bob Frank Entertainment released the subsequent studio album Patriots & Poets, which included contributions from Steve Martin, Béla Fleck, and David Rawlings. The first holiday project, The Sounds of Christmas, arrived in November 2018 and featured Dolly Parton’s guest vocal on “Road to Bethlehem.” For the energetic 2022 album Let's Sing Some Country!, the pair recruited Jimmy Fortune, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, and Rhonda Vincent; the set introduced a stronger country emphasis and served as their debut for BBR Music Group, the country-focused division of BMG Rights Management. The duo also host the weekly program The Dailey & Vincent TV Show on the streaming service Circle.
