Daisy Jones & The Six

The fictional ensemble Daisy Jones & the Six, drawing partial inspiration from Fleetwood Mac, evokes the lighter hues of 1970s blues, folk, and album-oriented rock. Taylor Jenkins Reid’s 2019 novel supplies the source material, tracing the trajectory of that ill-fated decade-spanning act through a sequence of interviews, while the 2023 Amazon Studios series translated the narrative into sound via the album Aurora. Behind-the-scenes contributions came from Jackson Browne, Blake Mills, and Phoebe Bridgers, and Riley Keough embodied the central vocalist both on camera and in the studio recordings.

Rooted in the identically titled New York Times bestseller, the invented Los Angeles rock group Daisy Jones & the Six became the focus of a miniseries that reached Amazon Prime in March 2023. Executive producers Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the screenwriting duo responsible for 500 Days of Summer, joined the project in 2019 to craft the teleplay. Riley Keough, whose screen debut arrived in the 2010 biopic chronicling seventies punk band the Runaways, heads the cast; additional members comprise Suki Waterhouse as keyboardist Karen Sirko, More Like Trees’ Josh Whitehouse as bassist Eddie Roundtree, Sam Claflin as co-leader Billy Dunne, Will Harrison as lead guitarist Graham Dunne, and Sebastian Chacon as drummer Warren Rojas. The television roster departs in minor respects from the novel’s lineup.

Versatile indie musician Blake Mills was tasked with shaping the Six’s sonic identity and producing their simulated debut album Aurora, which incorporated songwriting from Jackson Browne, Phoebe Bridgers, and Marcus Mumford. Atlantic issued Aurora on March 3, 2023, the same day the series premiered.
