Biography
Dale Fielder first gained notice during the 1990s as a leading emerging saxophonist based in Los Angeles. Beginning at age nine with clarinet before switching to alto, he took up R&B during his high-school years. He later enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh, where he performed frequently throughout the city. After relocating to New York in 1980, Fielder worked with the calypso ensemble the Mighty Sparrow. During his time there he established the Clarion imprint and cut the LP Scene From a Dream, which included Geri Allen. He returned to Los Angeles in 1988 and maintained a steady schedule of appearances both locally and along the coast. For his own Clarion label he has produced multiple CDs, among them a notable tribute to Wayne Shorter.
