Biography
Beginning his musical journey with performances in punk bands and by leading ensembles across Chicago and Austin, Dan Israel earned recognition as one of Austin's fifteen premier songwriters according to the 1995 Austin Music Awards poll. Following a pair of favorably regarded recordings alongside his Minneapolis-rooted Americana outfit the Cultivators, this singer-songwriter ventured independently via the Hayden's Ferry album Dan Who? from 2001. The Cultivators made their comeback precisely for the 2003 effort Love Ain't a Cliché. Throughout the later years of that decade, Israel put out multiple recordings on Eclectone Records, among them Time I Get Home in 2004 and Turning in 2007. Crosstown Traveler came out independently in 2010, while 2013 saw the concurrent launch of the double-LP collection Danthology alongside the studio project Live On. The year 2015 brought the release of Dan, and in 2018 Israel's fourteenth album, You're Free, made its debut.
