Biography
The singer first honed his craft in the Shadettes, a mid-60s beat group from Dunfermline, Scotland. Nazareth emerged from that lineup in 1968 and soon expanded beyond its local roots to achieve widespread global success. His distinctive throaty rasp helped define the band’s signature tracks such as the 1973 releases ‘Broken Down Angel’ and ‘This Flight Tonight’, although he also launched a separate solo effort that same year. The resulting album Dan McCafferty featured several personal favorites, among them ‘Out Of Time’, which reached the UK Top 50 as a single. He subsequently returned his focus to Nazareth until branching out once more as a solo artist in 1987 via Into The Ring.
