Daniel Gabriel Alessandro Saucedo Grzechowski first rose to prominence across Sweden under the stage names Danny Saucedo and Danny after appearing on the 2006 edition of Idol. Early rounds of the competition showcased his talent when he joined fellow contestant Felicia Brandström for an a cappella take on Bryan Adams’ “Everything I Do, I Do It for You,” a performance the judges singled out as one of the season’s strongest. He advanced all the way to the finale yet finished second to Markus Fagervall. Like many prior Idol participants, he nevertheless secured a contract with Sony BMG. The label issued his debut singles “Tokyo” and “Play It for the Girls” during spring 2007, both of which reached the top of the Swedish singles chart; his first album, Heart Beats, likewise claimed the number-one slot.
