Danny Gaither, the gospel vocalist born on 20 November 1938 in Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on 6 April 2001 in Indianapolis, Indiana. From the tender age of three, he performed songs before community gatherings, supported at the keyboard by his mother. His brother Bill Gaither and a cousin soon added their voices to the performances, with the cousin later giving way to sister Mary Ann. Accompanied still by their mother, the three siblings performed extensively in various venues before pursuing higher education individually. The Bill Gaither Trio reformed in 1970 for professional touring commitments and quickly established itself among the leading acts in gospel music. Danny exited the ensemble during 1977 to pursue independent recordings, issuing his initial effort titled Singing To The World through Impact Records that same year. Benson, the Nashville-based enterprise owning Impact, connected him with producer Joe Huffman for his third album, Sing A Song Of Love. He assembled a personal ensemble of supporting musicians and embarked on an intensive itinerary of live appearances comparable to those undertaken by the Bill Gaither Trio. Lymphoma claimed his life following a struggle lasting five years.
