Hailing from Missouri, Danny Liston, active as singer, guitarist, and songwriter, launched his musical journey at fourteen by drumming for Soulful Illusions. While still attending high school he switched to guitar in the Belltones. He later teamed with brother Pat Liston to create Mama's Pride, a band that toured the Southern rock circuit beside Lynyrd Skynard and Wet Willie before securing a contract with Atlantic Records and issuing several albums. The rock and roll lifestyle soon engulfed Liston in drugs and alcohol, however, forcing him to exit the group and open a restaurant with his wife. Addiction lingered off the road, bringing him near the brink of becoming another rock casualty until an evening church service attended with his wife sparked a decisive turn: he abandoned substances and embraced Christianity. Reinvigorated by this spiritual base, Liston resumed recording in 2007 at famed Ardent Studios in Memphis under producer Jim Gaines. The sessions fused his rock and blues origins with praise and worship themes, yielding the album No Other Name, released the following year in 2008.
