Danny Oertli took up the guitar in the summer bridging his final junior-high year and the start of high school. With his father’s assistance he acquired a $12 Sears guitar and amplifier, an acquisition that deepened his attraction to acoustic-based sounds. While attending Colorado Statue University he started crafting original songs and shaping his own material. His debut recording, the nine-song Where We Stand, appeared in 1992, securing his place within Christian music circles and launching his ministry work in the genre. The first full-length album, Stories, followed in 1994, with Song From The Left Side Of The Couch arriving the next year. Drawing influence from artists such as Rich Mullins, Oertli carried his music across the United States and Europe through various touring ministries. Hymns And Prayers came out in 1999, and he placed the song My Last Breath on a compilation assembled in the wake of the Columbine tragedy. Two albums surfaced in 2002: Rewind gathered earlier material, while Nothing Left To Prove presented fresh songs. Tragedy visited the Oertli family that February when his wife Cyndi succumbed to cancer. Oertli continues to operate his own ministries and maintains an active touring schedule throughout North America and beyond.
