Nashville serves as the base for Dara Tucker, a compelling vocalist, pianist, and songwriter whose work blends acoustic jazz with R&B. She entered the world in Tulsa within a household steeped in music, as the child of gospel performer and pastor Doyle Tucker alongside singer Linda Tucker. Growing up alongside her seven brothers and sisters, she took up piano studies at the age of eight and joined her relatives in delivering gospel selections during family performances. Though drawn to music from an early age, Tucker chose to focus on International Business and German Studies at Oral Roberts University following graduation from high school. Only after serving as an au pair in Switzerland during 2003 did she start composing original material, a step that prompted her relocation to Nashville in pursuit of a professional path in music. Her first collection of jazz standards, All Right Now, appeared in 2009. She followed it two years afterward with Soul Said Yes, a release that fused jazz and R&B elements and showcased guitarist Charlie Hunter. The Sun Season arrived in 2014 as her third solo effort, shaped by acoustic jazz textures and supported by guitarist Peter Bernstein, pianist Helen Sung, and additional musicians.
