Biography
Dardanelle demonstrated exceptional skill at the piano through her delicate approach, with professional accomplishments extending as far back as the 1940s. Her performances encompassed vigorous, rhythmic blues alongside dynamic original compositions, as well as selections of quirky popular songs and classic standards. The ensemble albums she produced varied widely, encompassing dynamic three-piece collaborations alongside Tal Farlow and more relaxed, accessible material featuring Bucky Pizzarelli. Over five decades she maintained a busy schedule as a musician, culminating in a concluding appearance in Greenwood, MS, in May 1997 just prior to her passing at 79 years old after undergoing valve replacement surgery.
