Dave Goodrich first entered the world in Washington, D.C., though Fredericksburg, Virginia, later became his permanent base after he passed his earliest years living in Mexico. Time outside his Mexico City high school classes often went toward making music or venturing into the surrounding landscapes. Upon finishing school he enrolled at San Francisco State University’s music program, where he gigged across the Bay Area while completing his studies and worked as a session and backing player across numerous styles. Venues such as Berkeley Square and The Chi-Chi Club hosted many of those appearances, and he also played in the college art-rock band Jenny Jenny. Returning to Washington, D.C., in 1985, he joined the alternative pop trio Mind’s i, which toured locally and issued the 1988 album A House Defiled, a Washington Area Music Award nominee. Going solo in 1990, Goodrich maintained a schedule of roughly 200 performances annually and issued a three-song cassette in 1993 that attracted minimal notice. Jewel served as his opener in 1995. His first full-length release, the 2002 album 15 Minutes, followed years of appearances at assorted music conferences and festivals. Reviewers have placed his sound alongside the Eagles, Derek & the Dominos, and Dave Matthews, while his screen work includes roles in The Jackal, Deep Impact, and Contact.
