Providence, Rhode Island native Davey Harms creates noisy experimental techno both under his own name and via the World War alias. His productions weave intricate sonic networks built from elastic polyrhythms, playful lo-fi samples, and dense layers of distortion and feedback. Previously recording as Mincemeat or Tenspeed, he launched the Davey Harms and World War projects with initial releases in 2016.

Harms first earned underground acclaim through the Mincemeat or Tenspeed noise project, which generated highly rhythmic and even danceable results using only mixers and pedals rather than synthesizers, computers, sequencers, or conventional instruments. Under that name he issued multiple albums and EPs via labels including Deathbomb Arc and Zum, performed in basements and small venues throughout the United States, and received endorsements from figures such as Dan Deacon along with coverage in Pitchfork and The Village Voice. With the 2014 full-length Waiting for Surfin' Bird, Harms began integrating synthesizers and samplers into the project's abrasive, high-energy pieces. After that album he retired the Mincemeat moniker, and his subsequent output, the 2016 Hausu Mountain cassette Cables, appeared under the Davey Harms name. Soon afterward he introduced the World War project with the More Records release Jumz. The follow-up World War effort, Soundsystem, came out on Hausu Mountain in 2017. A second Davey Harms cassette, titled World War, surfaced in 2020.
