Biography
During the chaotic Nixon presidency, Frye, a master Nixon-impersonator, ranked among the era’s most popular comedians. He refined his approach through nightclub sets and multiple comedy concept albums, such as New First Family 1968 (1966), attaining widespread fame precisely as Nixon rose to the White House before losing favor once the president resigned. Although much of Frye’s recorded output now feels dated, these pieces, examined within their original period, function as an accurate and amusing reflection of those unsettled years. ~ Larry Lapka
