Davin James, a Texas-based singer and songwriter, delivers vocals marked by depth and richness while displaying masterful command of the guitar. His creative impulses range across traditional country, rock, jazz touches, and unmistakable strains of Cajun music alongside Gulf Coast blues. Across his professional path he has steadily earned recognition as a compelling stage performer.

Born in Jackson, Mississippi, he spent time in both Louisiana and Arkansas before relocating to South Texas at age 12. His father cultivated his affinity for country music by sharing the work of Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Bob Wills. One recording proved especially formative: Hank Williams Jr.’s “Whiskey Bent and Hellbound,” whose fusion of styles anticipated the eclectic approach for which James himself would become known.

He entered the studio for the first time with Making My Mark in 1995, then issued Nowhere Lounge in 1999 and the stylistically wide-ranging Magnolia in 2001. The title track from the latter recording held a position on the Texas Music Chart for eight consecutive weeks.
