Biography
Steven Wray Lobdell used the Davis Redford Triad as his personal outlet, generating some of Portland, Oregon’s most distinctive late-1990s textures through layers of electric-guitar distortion that defined the band’s modern-psychedelia approach. Shortly after Lobdell left a mental institution in spring 1997, the group issued its first recording, Mystical Path Of The Number Eighty Six. The follow-up, Ewige Blumenkraft, appeared the next year.
Lobdell later fronted Sufi Mind Game, worked regularly with the Baseball Astrologer, and sat in occasionally with Faust; in 1999 he issued the solo statement Automatic Writing On The Moon. He has also produced two albums for the Portland-based band Hochenkeit.
