Biography
Two Swedish siblings achieved notable traction inside British club circuits during the first half of the 1990s thanks to the house cuts “Alright” and “Body Action.” Dianne and Jeanette Söderholm, who grew up surrounded by music, became the inaugural signing to the forward-thinking Swemix Records roster in 1989. Their recordings layer bright, melodic garage singing across the imprint’s established template, long celebrated for its deep-house output. Inside Sweden, however, the pair encountered limited recognition; as they explained to British dance publications in 1993, “House is not that big here. Tempos are very slow. We’re making music for other countries.” The sisters’ first long-player yielded their strongest home-country results when the accompanying single “Big Bad World” registered a modest national chart entry. A subsequent album received production from StoneBridge, the figure responsible for relaunching Robin S.’s trajectory. More recently the duo has worked alongside Martin White (aka Max Martin), Denniz Pop and Douglas Carr—the latter two widely noted for shaping material by fellow Swedish artists Dr. Alban and Leila K.
