Biography
The quartet Daylight's for the Birds comprises Philip Wann on vocals, keyboards, and guitar, Jay Giampietro on guitar, Brad Conroy on drums, and Amanda Garrett on vocals. The group assembled in 2005 after Wann's prior band On!Air!Library! dissolved in 2004 following its lone album for Arena Rock. Once Giampietro came aboard, the two entered a Brooklyn studio that summer and spent every other week immersed in twelve-hour jam sessions whose chemistry shaped the band's dreamy experimental indie rock direction. Claudia Deheza, formerly On!Air!Library!'s vocalist, contributed backup vocals to those sessions, but Daylight's for the Birds only became official once former Boggs drummer Conroy and vocalist Garrett joined. Live dates with Calla, Prefuse 73, and the Silversun Pickups carried the band into the following year. Their debut LP, Trouble Everywhere, appeared on This Generation Tapes in fall 2006.
