Biography
De La Tierra functions as a Latin-infused heavy metal supergroup that straddles death metal and melody-driven hard rock. Its lineup features Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs bassist Sr. Flavio, Mana drummer Alex González, and former A.N.I.M.A.L. frontman Andrés Giménez on guitar. All four members contribute vocals.
Although the precise beginnings remain unclear, the concept originated during a 2006 backstage exchange between González and Giménez. The two reconnected in 2011 while touring, sharing dinner that led to a serious plan for a power trio. Seeking an additional guitarist, Giménez reached out to Kisser by email and received the immediate reply, “I am the band's guitarist.”
Whenever their calendars aligned, the musicians rehearsed and ultimately tracked their self-titled debut across studios in Buenos Aires, Guadalajara, Sao Paulo, and Los Angeles, with every lyric written in Spanish or Portuguese. Roadrunner released the lead single and video “Maldita Historia” in November 2013, followed by the full-length album itself the next January. The band appeared at Rock in Rio the following year. Their second studio effort, aptly titled II, arrived in November 2016.
