Biography
Tokyo-based quintet De Lorians deliver an intricate, unrestrained strain of spiritual jazz-rock deeply shaped by Frank Zappa and the Canterbury scene. Ecstatic solos and abrupt shifts in meter fill the instrumentals across their debut full-length, issued in 2019.
Takefumi Ishida (saxophones, electric guitar, synthesizer), Genki Goto (electric bass, cello), Soya Nogami (electric guitar, didgeridoo), and Hyozo Shiratori (keyboards, theremin) assembled the ensemble in 2016. Late that year the group made its live debut supporting Acid Mothers Temple. Syzeuhl Meme Joyer soon joined on drums, after which the band maintained a steady schedule of performances across Japan. A handful of tracks appeared online before the members captured their first album in 2018; Beyond Beyond Is Beyond issued the self-titled De Lorians in July 2019.
