Biography
Distinguished from the ensemble assembled by Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy once Southern Death Cult dissolved and later became the mainstream rock act the Cult, Deathcult came together as a black metal group in Norway near 2006. Herr Ekkel, Høst, and Meistermann issued their opening demo, Cruel Rehearsals, that year. After finalizing a recording contract, the band delivered its first official full-length, Cult of the Dragon (Doedsmagik), in mid-2007. Alongside that album’s appearance, Deathcult disclosed that the next two entries would carry the names Cult of the Goat (Sexmagik) and Cult of the Dog (Voldsmagik).
