Biography
Decebal Badila, the gifted bassist, entered the world in Constantia, Romania, in 1968. He began formal musical training at the University of Bukarest with an initial focus on acoustics before relocating to Cologne, Germany, where he turned his attention to jazz bass. His first album, the rhythmically driven Nothing But Bass, came out in 1997 on the BSC Music label and contains the instrumental bass tracks “Holiday Fever,” “Sad Song,” “Green Fields, Blue Sky, Red Car,” and “After the Rain.”
Badila has appeared at a wide array of concerts and festivals as well as on numerous television broadcasts. His name appears in the credits of several albums by other artists, among them the group Backstreet, where his remarkable soloing technique can be heard on many selections. He has also performed with the SWR Big Band and contributed to various-artists collections such as Who’s Afraid of the Big Bass?!?
