Deckard

British rock outfit Deckard took its name from the central figure in Blade Runner and came together through the efforts of Stewarton, Scotland natives Chris Gordon on guitar and vocals, Grant McFarlane handling guitar and backing vocals, and bassist Bobby Dunn, who had been friends since childhood. Completing the group was London-born drummer Gen Matthews. Gordon, McFarlane, and Dunn had previously started Baby Chaos with a drummer named Davy; the act secured a contract with East/West Records and issued two albums before Davy departed for health-related reasons. The remaining members held auditions for a replacement, chose Matthews—a founding member of Jesus Jones—and changed the band’s name to Deckard. They issued The Deckard EP in October 1999 and followed it in July 2000 with the album Stereodreamscene on Reprise.
