Biography
In the late 1980s the performer presenting himself as rapper Dee Dee King was in fact the rock musician Dee Dee Ramone navigating an intense identity crisis. Ramones drummer Marky Ramone remarked, "Dee Dee isn't a rap artist, he's a rock artist. I thought it was sort of unusual. One day he started wearing Mercedes Benz chains around his neck and gold rings. It was crazy. You know, I really think he lost his mind."
After exiting the Ramones in 1989, Dee Dee devoted the 1990s to penning songs for the band, among them six tracks on the Ramones' 1995 Adios Amigos, while also handling production duties, cutting a solo rock 45 alongside his fresh outfit the Chinese Dragons, and issuing two solo rock LPs.
