Biography
Emerging in 1995, Deep Banana Blackout draws from an expansive palette that includes rock, funk, soul, jazz, Latin, and psychedelia. Their loyal audience, rigorous touring calendar, and command of improvisation have placed them in the jam-band category. Their discography features Live in the Thousand Islands (1997) and Rowdy Duty (1999). The 2001 album Feel the Peel appeared on Flying Frog Records, the imprint launched by Allman Brothers drummer Butch Trucks. Deep Banana Blackout has toured alongside the Allman Brothers, with several DBB members augmenting the storied group during its sets. Hope Clayburn (saxophones, flute, vocals) and B. Smith (trombone, tuba, vocals) entered the collective in 2000. The remaining lineup comprises Fuzz (guitar, vocals), Rob Somerville (saxophone, vocals), Cyrus Madan (keyboards, vocals), Benj LeFevre (bass), Eric Kalb (drums), and Johnny Durkin (percussion).
