Biography
Deepspace 5 stands as a collective assembled from various underground hip-hop acts, drawing in particular on artists affiliated with Pride and Labklik. The two crews first connected with Sev Statik during the 1998 Cruvention, after which the group set about developing material that later yielded a self-released EP containing five tracks and, subsequently, the full-length album Night We Called It a Day on Uprok Records. In addition to the Pride roster already named—Soul Heir the manCHILD, DJ Dust, Sintax the Terrific, and the Recon—alongside Statik, the lineup of Deepspace 5 further encompasses Fred Bruno, Playdough, Listener, DJ Beat, Illtripp 1, the Beat Rabbi, and Stu Dent.
