Biography
Emerging from New York, the trio Kit West, Balle Legend, and Mariposa built a reputation that spanned underground cult appeal and mainstream traction through singles such as the 1992 club classic ‘Do You Want It Right Now,’ which climbed to number 31 and spotlighted vocals by Biti. The track first surfaced on the Esquire imprint in the US before moving across to ffrr Records. It had earlier featured on Taylor Dayne’s 1988 album Tell It To My Heart. Richie Jones oversaw production, with keyboards supplied by Eric Kupper, and the single held the Record Mirror Club Chart summit for four weeks. Further entries on the charts arrived with ‘Shine On’ at number 43—remixed by Farley & Heller and likewise originating on Esquire—plus ‘Soul Freedom - Free Your Soul’ at number 64 on the ffrr label, while Jones also remixed Sheer Bronze’s ‘I’m Walkin’’.
