Biography
In Austin, Texas, Wally Shaw, responsible for vocals, keyboards, and percussion, launched the Christian industrial outfit Donderfliegen together with vocalist Simon O'Leary and drummer Brent Stackhouse. Once O'Leary departed, Shaw collaborated with Stackhouse to issue the extremely limited Digital Priests in 1990. The subsequent rebranding as Deitiphobia, undertaken to sharpen the group's inherent religious emphasis, directly preceded the release of Fear of God the next year. Responding to strong listener demand, Deitiphobia revisited and updated their earlier recording, yielding Digital Priests, The Remixes in 1992. Stackhouse exited the project shortly afterward to concentrate on X-Propagation and Wigtop. Wally Shaw's fiancée, who would soon perform as Sheri Shaw on keyboards and vocals, joined to complete the duo at the core of Deitiphobia. Guitarist and percussionist Josh Plemons joined the lineup for the 1994 album Clean, while Fear of the Digital Remix in 1995 brought in former Sorrow of Seven guitarist Kevin 131. Wally has also released material as Icon Tact, and Sheri maintains a separate solo recording career.
