Delma Lachney, a Louisiana fiddler whose lineage reached back to French Canada, cut multiple sides for Vocalion in the closing years of the 1920s. Guitarist Alcide "Blind Uncle" Gaspard joined him on certain sessions and shared billing, yet Lachney never appeared on any of Gaspard’s own releases, even those tracked during the same dates. Scant further details have surfaced about the musician, notwithstanding the placement of his piece “La Danseuse” on the widely circulated Anthology of American Folk Music set and the presence of ten Lachney performances on Yazoo’s Early American Cajun Music compilation.
