Demetrius West

Demetrius West serves as a Billboard-charting gospel performer and directs the award-winning, 40-voice ensemble Jesus Promoters. The project Jesus Promoters arrived in 2015 to critical notice and was succeeded by ChoirOlogy: The Study of Choir Music. In 2020 the ensemble issued Do It Again, which delivered their debut chart-topping single, the uplifting “I’m Next.” Later that same year the set Old Fellowship Hour surfaced and featured the Billboard-charting track “Your Name.”

As Minister of Music and Arts at Cornerstone Community Church in Houston, Texas, West began supporting choirs, ensembles, soloists, and gospel musicians in 2004. The 2015 release Jesus Promoters contained the Earnest Pugh-assisted radio favorite “God of Everything.” Soon afterward West and the choir appeared alongside Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Chris Tomlin, Byron Cage, and Bishop William Murphy. During 2018 the ensemble signed with Kerry Douglas’ Black Smoke Music Worldwide, issued ChoirOlogy: The Study of Choir Music, and earned Stellar Award, Steeple Award, and Rhythm of Gospel Award nominations. Its opening track “Open the Floodgates” climbed to number two on the Billboard gospel singles chart. The 2020 album Do It Again again brought the group their first number-one single via the life-affirming “I’m Next.” “Your Name” emerged as a gospel hit in early 2022, preceding the complete album Old Fellowship Hour later in the year.
