Biography
French musician and composer Nicolas Chapel conceived Demians, a versatile and evolving contemporary rock ensemble reminiscent of forward-thinking groups such as Smashing Pumpkins, Thrice, and Radiohead. Functioning as a solo studio endeavor while deploying a complete ensemble for live performances, the fiercely autonomous project centers on richly layered sounds that merge 21st-century progressive textures with expansive alternative rock. Chapel earned critical praise for the outfit’s first album, 2008’s Building an Empire. Later releases comprised 2010’s Mute and 2014’s Mercury.
