Biography
Denial Fiend originated in Valrico, Florida, during the first months of 2006 as a regional thrash and death metal group carrying substantial prior credentials. Its lineup featured Kam Lee on vocals, Sam Williams on guitar, Terry Bulter on bass, and Curt Beeson on drums; each musician had previously performed in multiple acts, among them the established outfits Down By Law, Death, Massacre, Six Feet Under, and Nasty Savage, all motivated by an appreciation for classic horror cinema and foundational death and thrash styles. The group’s initial demo took the shape of a 2006 rehearsal recording, which was soon succeeded by a second, more structured demo. Their earliest official release, the EP Dead Awakening, preceded the band’s debut album, They Rise, in 2007.
