Sweden's Deranged first asserted their standing among the planet's most depraved and blood-soaked death metal acts via their second demo, the 1992 release titled "...the Confessions of a Necrophile." The quartet had come together the year before, with Per Gyllenbäck on vocals, Johan Axelsson handling guitar, Jean-Paul Asenov on bass, and Rikard Wermén behind the drums. Repeated personnel shifts and widespread apathy dogged them across the entire 1990s, yet they pressed ahead anyway, issuing a string of independent recordings that encompassed the E.P.s Architects of Perversion and Sculpture of the Dead, both from 1994, plus the albums Rated-X in 1996, High on Blood in 1998, III in 1999, Deranged in 2001, and Plainfield Cemetery in 2002.
