Des Ark

At its core, Des Ark centers on singer/guitarist Aimee Collet Argote. Before forming the project she had played in Rubeo, whose 7" came out on the feminist label Mr. Lady in 1998. The band started in 2001 as a full ensemble yet later shrank to a duo pairing Argote with drummer Tim Herzog, also of Milemarker. Exotic Fever Records issued a split 7" with Bellafea in October 2004; the following year the debut album Loose Lips Sink Ships appeared on Bifocal Media/Bakery Outlet Records. J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. recorded that LP. After Herzog departed in September 2005, Argote kept touring and recording under the Des Ark name. Lovitt released the split CD with Ben Davis, Battle of the Beards, in early 2007.
