Biography
Formed in 1981, the English metal band Desolation Angels began with vocalist Dave Wall, guitarists Robin Brancher and Keith Sharp, and bassist Joe Larner. Drummer Brett Robertson soon rounded out the group that issued the self-financed single "Valhalla" in 1983. By then the outfit had already become a reliable draw at clubs throughout London's East End, regularly sharing bills with other New Wave of British Heavy Metal arrivals such as Chariot and Elixir. Independent Bullet Records offered support, yet the label declared bankruptcy in early 1985 just before the band's eponymous debut could appear. The album finally surfaced a year later on Thameside, another independent label, with Adam Palfrey now occupying the drum stool. Desolation Angels continued for several more years before disbanding in 1994. The 2008 box set Feels Like Thunder encouraged original guitarists Robin Brancher and Keith Sharp to reactivate the band, and by 2012 they had returned to the stage. In 2014 Desolation Angels issued the EP The Sweeter the Meat, and two years later they marked the 30th anniversary of their debut with a reissue of that self-titled album.
