Deutsch Nepal

Swedish instrumentalist and composer Lina Der Baby Doll General has operated Deutsch Nepal as a solo outlet since the early 1990s, pursuing ambient textures drawn from industrial environments. The project’s initial cassette releases, Only Silence Among the Filthy and The Silent Earth, later appeared together on the 2002 compact-disc edition A Silent Siege. Those early works, together with the first vinyl album Deflagration of Hell, merely suggested the direction General would pursue through subsequent releases whose titles include Benevolence -- Flogging Satin Alive from 1993, Tolerance -- How the Servant Utilized His Masters from 1994, and Erosion from 1999. Under the Deutsch Nepal banner he also shared a disc with In Slaughter Natives and another with the Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud. The Ant-Zen label issued the lone single “Dentist Environmental.” Material recorded between 1992 and 1996 was gathered on the 1997 collection Comprendido. Parallel to his Deutsch Nepal activities, General maintains the separate solo project Frozen Faces, which yielded the album Broken Sounds of a Dying Culture.
