Biography
In 2000, San Francisco punk veteran Matt Freeman, who had previously played in Operation Ivy and Rancid, launched an independent project. What started as Halfway to Hell Club, a musical depicting the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, instead became Devil’s Brigade once Freeman repurposed songs he had co-written with Tim Armstrong during Rancid’s touring breaks. Armstrong contributed guitar while D.J. Bonebrake of X and the Knitters handled drums on the self-titled debut album, issued in summer 2010.
