Devon Baldwin, originating from the Bay Area, works as a singer and songwriter crafting dreamy, sensuous pop material built around forward-thinking electronic production. As the daughter of Windham Hill Records producer Dawn Atkinson, she sang from childhood onward while taking music classes at the private Marin Academy school and laying down Kelly Clarkson-like pop/rock material during her early teens. In 2009 she auditioned for American Idol, reaching the top 52 contestants before elimination. Following high school graduation she attended Loyola University in New Orleans, completing a degree in music and performing opera there. At college she connected with producer Christoph Andersson and rapper Gerald Gillum (G-Eazy), initiating musical work with each of them and entering a romantic relationship with Gillum. Beginning in 2011 she co-wrote and featured on multiple G-Eazy tracks, among them the 2014 hit single “Let’s Get Lost.” A collapsed lung forced major surgery that briefly halted her progress, yet the interruption supplied space to concentrate on lyric writing. Once recovered she resumed vocal work and live appearances, touring alongside her friend JMSN and performing at festivals including Austin’s SXSW and Outside Lands at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Her debut EP, Lungs, appeared in November 2015.
