Dial M for Murder! emerged in 2007 as a Swedish duo when David Ortenlöf and Anders Lantto joined forces, channeling tributes to the Chameleons and Joy Division into dark, moody pop. Their haunting and stylish approach relies on vintage drum machines alongside lo-fi atmospherics that establish the groundwork for brooding vocal melodies. The pair drew initial European notice in 2008 after Tapete Records issued their 7" single "Oh No!". The same label followed with the full-length debut Fiction of Her Dreams in 2009.
