Biography
In 1992 the Brazilian experimental music performer Diana Miranda put out her first album. She blended African rhythms with traditional local sounds and jazz fusion ingredients to shape a personal approach that drew notice from major figures in music, among them Quincy Jones, who brought her to the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1993. The following year her second album, Live In Montreux, taped at Miles Davis Hall, appeared to strong reception. Throughout the mid-'90s she stood out as a central act on experimental and jazz-focused bills at Rome Jazz, World Rhythms, and Moncalvo. Diana Miranda completed her third album, Nerdestina, in 1999.
