Miami, FL-native Diane Ward sings, writes songs, and plays multiple instruments with equal skill. She started out on drums while still very young and began giving music lessons to others before completing high school. Local bands soon hired her to perform live, and the experience left her at ease in front of crowds. Singing entered the picture by chance when the lead vocalist of one group failed to appear for a show, prompting Ward to step up to the microphone. From there her work expanded into songwriting and then into playing keyboards and guitar.

Ward launched her solo career in 1993. Two years later she completed her first album, Mirror, which appeared on her own THIP Records imprint. The self-produced collection of emotional pop songs includes the tracks “Goodbye Mary Jo,” “I Will Wait for You,” “Home,” and “Now in this Hush.”

She closed the decade with the 1999 follow-up Move. Bassist Matt Sabatella and guitarist Jack Shawde contributed to the sessions, while drummer Chris Sheldon and guitarist Brian Franklin performed as regular members of her band.
