Biography
Dick Heckstall-Smith, a saxophonist, played a significant part in the 1960s British blues explosion through his performances with Alexis Korner, Graham Bond, and John Mayall. Across his various projects, especially with Colosseum in the late 1960s, he explored the relatively uncharted intersection of blues, jazz, and rock. Beyond his session contributions, he issued a number of solo albums, among them the ambitious world fusion project Celtic Steppes from 1995, which received funding from the Arts Council of England.
