Biography
Die Lollipops, also known as The Lollipops, rank among Germany’s leading kiddie pop acts. Formed in 2000, the project originally featured two teenage girls delivering Europop productions—handled by Peter Hoffmann—alongside a selection of original material, all built around familiar songs and classics rewritten with lyrics aimed at younger listeners. After releasing multiple commercially successful albums, the act surpassed 1.5 million units in combined record and DVD sales, collected eight gold certifications and one platinum award, and received an Echo in 2005. Four novels written for young readers appeared under the Lollipops brand as accompanying merchandise. The lineup’s two vocalists are routinely replaced every few years; across the group’s history, a total of seven singers have taken part, among them Maria, who joined at age eleven in 2005.
