Biography
Houston's Die Young (TX) came together in the winter of 2002 under the simpler name Die Young, a driven and fervent outfit delivering sociopolitical hardcore directly shaped by Catharsis, Integrity, Black Flag, and Trial as well as thinkers such as Chomsky and Nietzsche. Frequent lineup shifts marked the band's early years, though frontman the Rev White Devil and drummer Rynearson remained its steadiest anchors. Two 7"s appeared in 2003, beginning with Songs for the Converted in the spring and followed by Confession of a Petty Thief in the fall; both were later combined with several new songs to form the May 2004 full-length The Message on Immigrant Sun Records. The EP Survival Instinct arrived the next year alongside a split 7" with Orange County's 7 Generations on Surprise Attack Records.
Upon returning from a summer 2005 tour, the members discovered cease-and-desist notices sent by a California band sharing the same name. The dispute ended with an agreement that prompted the Houston group to append "TX" to its moniker for distinction. True to form, Die Young (TX) maintained an exhaustive touring schedule that reached far-flung regions outside the lower forty-eight states, among them Alaska, eastern Asia, South and Central America, the Caribbean, and additional territories. Their persistence drew industry attention, culminating in a July 2006 signing with Eulogy Recordings. An early 2007 split with Long Island metallic hardcore upstarts Invade preceded the March arrival of the band's Eulogy debut, Graven Images.
