Diesto

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Diesto formed around Chris Dunn on guitar and vocals, Mark Bassett on guitar and vocals, Captain John on bass, and the Devon on drums. The quartet surfaced at the start of the third millennium, initially drawing heavily from the Pacific Northwest alternative rock lineage as well as the post-hardcore approach favored by the Amphetamine Reptile roster. Across the course of albums including 2001’s Outland, 2004’s Doomtown 7, 2008’s Isle of Marauder, and 2010’s High as the Sun, the sound grew denser and more weighted, absorbing sludge and doom traits that recalled the Melvins, Tad, and YOB.
